Abstract. The ethnographic study is a result of field observation of the work and adaptation of Indonesian caretakers at Japanese geriatric institutions. The book contributes to the understanding of cultural, personal, and social relations between foreign interns, staff employees, and elderly inhabitants, through the prism of beliefs on national identity and cultural traditions. The text pays attention to the migration problem of the countries at the stage of demographic changes.
